About us

Secure Our Care aims to ensure access to quality medical care by identifying solutions to problems that threaten that care. Chief among these problems is the critical shortage of qualified health care workers to staff our hospitals and long-term care centers.

The ongoing staffing crisis was exacerbated by the COVID-19 virus when nearly every state in the union took executive action to address staffing shortages. During that time, at least 1,118 hospitals, or about 1 in 6 hospitals in America, reported critical shortages. The shortage is far from over, and is in fact expected to intensify.

The staffing shortage puts quality medical care at risk. That’s why we need innovative market solutions to ensure that there are adequate professionals. Nursing recruitment and staffing firms have an important role to play by providing additional support to ensure that patients receive the quality care they deserve.

Travel nurses and foreign-educated nurses have become an essential component of health care facility staffs. The number of travel nurses increased from about 8,000 positions in early 2020 to about 32,000 early in 2022.

We believe it is incumbent upon policy makers in government and the health care sector to support staffing solutions so that seniors, and all Americans, can maintain access to world-class health care.
